Exodus 25:8 (Extended Version)

Commissioned by Congregation Rodef Shalom in San Rafael, CA, this setting is for their 50th anniversary celebration.

Full Score and Parts Exodus 25:8 (Extended Version)
Requiem (in 10 parts)

I started this project back in 2000 or 2001, but after tossing what I had written back then (for extremely large ensemble), I started reworking to original text in 2003.  After a long hiatus, I returned to work in 2004, putting together bits and pieces until finally finishing it now.

The Complete Songbook

This compilation includes The Path, let it be me, I Should Have Told You, La Beaute, and Ships That Pass.  It comprises all of the songs I've written through 2004, and all are for female singer.  A soprano or mezzo soprano can easily cover all three cycles, but the song Ships That Pass is for alto.

The Auden cycles are also available for individual download on this page, as are the individual songs Ships That Pass and La Beaute.

Check the individual listings for samples.
The Life and Works of Jonathan Edwards

For string orchestra, narrator, and percussionist.  My longest continuous piece yet, except for 'I Should Have Told You.'  The sermons of Jonathan Edwards with musical background

Conductor's score with foreword (no parts) The recording is unfortunately in mono, but a real studio recording of the piece may be in the works.

The Life and Works of JE (24.8 MB)

String Quartet #1

A lively but clean quartet.  Three movements in a fast-slow-fast structure, linked together by a common harmonic phrase

Complete Score and Parts First Movement - Allegro (4.1 MB)
Second Movement - Adagio (4.1 MB)
Third Movement - Presto (3.5 MB)
String Quartet #2

Messier than the first quartet, with the same three movement structure.  This time, however, the linking fragment is melodic rather than harmonic.

Complete Score and Parts The following are MIDI files, not MP3s.  The piece has never been performed.

First Movement - Theme
Second Movement - Metric Shift
Third Movement - Retrograde

I Should Have Told You

The third Auden cycle.  For piano and mezzo-soprano, this cycle of 12 songs is my grandest vocal work to date.  I'd like to stay away from song for a while and focus on instrumental works, but of course I would consider a specific commission.

Complete Score

As the 12 songs are meant to be performed attaca, I am not putting up the individual songs.

These recordings are synthesized; the piece has yet to be performed.

Ships that Pass

A short but lovely atonal song for piano and alto, this song shows the potential for atonal writing.
